A score, kit, or upload is stuck or failed
How to read the progress signals and what to do at each failure point.
Almost everything slow in Giusim is background work with a visible progress signal. Learn the signals and you will rarely wonder whether something died.
Scoring a CV
Scoring runs in the background. The spinning chip in the top bar ("1 scoring", "3 scoring") means work is running; it disappears when done. Give a single CV a couple of minutes. The Score a CV page also has a Scoring activity panel with a live bar per candidate, and each row visibly ends in done or failed.
Interview kits
Kit generation shows a real progress bar with three phases: reading the candidate's file, writing the questions, checking for issues. It usually takes 60 to 100 seconds. It visibly finishes or fails, no guessing, and on failure a Try again button appears right there. Nothing is saved on a failure, so retrying is safe.
Bulk batches
A batch has its own Batch progress panel: phase, completed count, pairing results, and per-candidate outcomes. Check it before assuming a batch died. Failed candidates are listed in red with the reason.
Upload rejected
Check the file type. Documents (JDs, transcripts): PDF, DOCX, TXT, MD. Candidate files (CVs, LinkedIn) also accept images: PNG, JPG, WEBP, GIF. Anything else is refused.
"Duplicate detected" is not an error
It means Giusim already analyzed this candidate for this position. Nothing was analyzed and no tokens were spent. Choose: open the existing report, Re-analyze anyway, or Discard upload.
Role extraction
Adding a role from a JD takes about 10 to 20 seconds; a status line says so while it runs.
When something silently did nothing
Real errors do not vanish. They surface as a red System notice on the Home dashboard and stay until acknowledged. If a click seemed to do nothing, check Home first.
Related questions
It says duplicate detected, did I break something?
No. It means Giusim already analyzed this candidate for this position, and it stopped before spending anything. Open the existing report, hit Re-analyze anyway if you really want a fresh run, or Discard upload.
How long does question generation take, and is it stuck?
Usually 60 to 100 seconds, and the progress bar shows which of the three phases it is in. It never hangs silently: it visibly finishes or fails, and on failure a Try again button appears. If the bar is still moving, it is working.
